A child in Kentucky was swept away by floodwaters while walking to bus stop

Around 6:35 a.m., this morning, on Friday, April 4, 2025,  police received a call about a boy getting caught in floodwaters while walking to a school bus stop in the Hickory Hills area of Frankfort. 

According to authorities, officials immediately began a search and rescue operation, and found the boy dead. 

Th Frankfort Police Dept released the following statement and the search and rescue efforts, “On behalf of the Frankfort Police Department, we would like to give our sincerest condolences to the family of this juvenile,” Tracy said. “Our prayers are with them. Our prayers are with all the members of the community, with the members of the school system.”

The boy's death marks the first reported in the Commonwealth of Kentucky this week from severe storms and flooding.
